The Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala has extended criminal summons against Professor Wasswa Balunywa until September 2, 2025. This follows a submission by his legal team, which informed the court that the former Principal of Makerere University Business School is currently unwell.
Prof. Balunywa was expected to appear in court today after being served with a criminal summons last week.
This development comes in the wake of ongoing investigations into the alleged mismanagement of Shs53 billion, which was reportedly paid to ghost beneficiaries listed on the government payroll. Last week, more than eight officials from the Civil Aviation Authority, Uganda Police, MUBS, and Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital were charged and remanded to various prisons over their alleged involvement in the scandal.
The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of the Uganda Police is still pursuing other suspects linked to the case.
